This is a multi-partner collaborative platform that serves as a comprehensive resource for community-based data. It’s a unique initiative brought to life by the collective efforts of five distinct partners (FFI, Springfield Community Uplift, the City of Springfield, Luminous Hope Operations and community credible messengers), each contributing their unique expertise and resources.
Here you will find survey results derived from data collected directly from community members residing in a 5-mile radius of downtown Springfield. The tool used to inform the survey questions, Wellbeing Insights and Tradeoffs Tool (WIATT), was essential to this project because this data provides valuable insights into the community’s characteristics, assets, needs, and trends, as well.
WIATT is an initiative of The Full Frame Initiative (FFI). FFI is a social change organization working with government and community leaders, agencies, activists, artists and researchers who share our commitment to moving the United States towards a country where everyone has a fair shot at wellbeing. Our work is vital and urgent, for while the drive for wellbeing — the set of needs and experiences that are essential in combination and balance for health, hope and resilience — is universal, our access is not. FFI’s community partnerships have created new avenues for those proximate to systemic harms to fundamentally shift the orientation of anti-violence, court and other systems. Rebuilding trust between residents and local government is critical to reaching voices that were previously unheard.
Given their deep local networks and track record of bridging the gap between government and residents, Springfield Community Uplift helped identify community partners who had credibility with residents. These resident leaders – “credible messengers” – administered surveys and analyzed data, departing from the typical approach of outsourcing community input.
Springfield Community Uplift, a dedicated nonprofit organization, prioritizes inclusive and participatory approaches, valuing community input and driving positive change to uplift the Springfield community.
Springfield is a vibrant and diverse city, boasting a thriving downtown area, a rich cultural scene, and a strong sense of community, with assets like the historic City Hall, the Springfield Museum of Art, and the bustling Riverfront Park.
