Data Sources

The Wellbeing, Insights, Assets & Tradeoffs Tool (WIATT) survey is critical to this project. This survey is designed to gather valuable input from community members about their needs, preferences, and perceptions regarding the lakefront development.

The WIATT survey is important for several reasons:

It ensures that the project is community-driven and reflects the needs and desires of Cleveland’s residents.
It provides a wealth of data that will be used to make informed decisions about the project’s design and implementation.
It helps to identify potential tradeoffs and challenges, enabling project leaders to address these proactively.

The data was gathered from residents who live within a 5 mile radius of census tracts 28 and 32.

One of the key features is the project’s comparative analysis against U.S. census data. This allows users to understand how the surveyed community aligns with or diverges from national averages and trends in terms of key demographics and priority populations. This comparative approach not only validates the community data but also provides a broader context for understanding it.

• Surveys were collected from residents who lived within a 5 mile radius of downtown Springfield.
• The following demographics were chosen for comparison: race/ethnicity; household income, education level, sex, age, and
• Data collection efforts focused on gathering data from residents who were under-sampled, and/or have been historically marginalized in previous surveys:
  • Black or African-American residents
  • Hispanic or Latino residents
  • Youth and elder (60+ year old) residents
  • Residents with household incomes less than $50k
